4119.21 (Code of Ethics of Education Profession)
Assembly Bill No. 500 (Bloom) requires a school district, COE or charter school that maintains a section on employee interactions with pupils in its employee code of conduct to do both of the following, beginning July 1, 2018: (i) provide a written copy of the section on employee interactions with pupils in its code of conduct to pupils’ parents or guardians at the beginning of each school year; and (ii) post the section on employee interactions with pupils in its code of conduct, or provide a link to it, on each of its schools’ web sites. If a school does not have its own web site, then the information should be posted on the LEA’s web site, in a manner that is accessible to the public without a password. The written copy requirement also may be satisfied by including the section on employee interactions with pupils in its code of conduct in the notice required pursuant to Education code section 48980. (Stats. 2017, ch. 580, effective January 1, 2018.)
